Plan
a Party
WebQuest

Introduction:
It's
almost time for your birthday! Your parents are letting you plan your
party this year. You need to purchase the things you need and want,
while staying within your budget. You will also make an invitation in
Word for your party.

Task:
You
need to purchase the items you need and want for your party. You will
be shopping at online party stores to find the items. You have $200.00
to spend on your party, not a penny more! You will create a spreadsheet
in Excel (with your teacher's help) to help you budget your expenses.
When you are done, you will create an invitation using Microsoft Word.

Resources:

Process:
First,
you will work with your teacher to create a spreadsheet to keep track
of the items you want to purchase, and how much you are spending. You
will create a simple table in Excel, and include formulas to help you
add up what you have spent.
Once
your spreadsheet is set up, you will begin shopping online. Decide what
items you need for your party (such as plates and napkins)
and what items you want (such as special party favors
or balloons). You will also need to decide how many of each item you will
need. Enter the items you wish to buy into your spreadsheet. Be sure to
enter the price of each item, and the amount of each item you are buying.
Keep an eye on your total at the bottom - you cannot go over $200.00!
If you need to, you can go back and change items in order to fit your
budget.
Finally,
be sure to print out your spreadsheet! Don't forget to save once in a
while!
Once
your spreadhseet is done, open Microsoft Word. Type an invitation to your
party. Be sure to include when and where it is. Be sure
your name is on it. You may add one or two pieces of clip art. Save it
in your folder and call it invite. Print it out when
you are done. Don't forget to check your spelling! |
